What was your inspiration for this building? It almost looks to me like a jet smashed into the ground. I like it a lot.

Rob..

well... it was kind of random... I put down a whole bunch of brush strokes.. just like scribbling.. then within the mess.. as I was cutting away at one brush stroke.. this shape that I liked.. sort of appeared.. and I tried to follow it.. to see where it went....

I call it the chaos approach.. and I think I've seen many others use it..... there's many permutations to this approach.. as I've seen.. sometimes you can start with photo.. some filters.. a texture.. I think I've heard of it being referred to as.. looking in the clouds and seeing something.. (I'm not the one who invented the approach..)

that's the best I can explain it.. hope that helps.

I have a Scott Robertson dvd where he goes through the type of process you're describing. Looks like a fun way to work.

yeah that's exactly it.. i think he uses marker.. and he actually draws out these very textural things.. with the markers and composites them..

the interesting thing is.. you can get that approach to work with anything, whether it be your own custom brushes... textures... photos.. drawings... it doesn't matter.. because photoshop has so many filters and ways to manipulate images.. often I grab some random photograph.. and just mess it around.. until something appears...
